Biological Sciences celebrates the start of academic year 2026-27

Welcome Back, Boilermakers!

A new semester is a great reason to come together. Biological Sciences students, faculty and staff kicked off the fall semester with food, games, music and plenty of Purdue spirit at the department’s Welcome Back BBQ.

Held on the front lawn of Lilly Hall, the event gave members of the Biological Sciences community a chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues, welcome new faces and enjoy some time together before the semester gets into full swing.

Take a look back at the afternoon and the people who helped make it a memorable start to the new academic year.

Celebrating Research and Discovery

During the gathering, researchers were also sharing their work through a poster session. The session offered an opportunity for members of the department to learn more about the questions being explored across Biological Sciences and connect with the researchers behind the work.

Together, the BBQ and poster session highlighted the many ways that our community comes together — from sharing a meal and catching up with colleagues to exchanging ideas and celebrating the research that drives discovery.
